about

Songtales’ is Davids first solo album (recorded and produced by Ben Savage of @HannahBenmusic and @Willows fame).

From a long-held interest in re-making songs, beginning by reducing them to the bare bones of tune and rhyme, a highly individual guitar style, and the extended horizons of open-tuning, opportunities for fresh harmonic flesh and rhythmic pulse opened up. Adding in a voice which he describes as ‘his grandfathers legacy’, he has a sound- and now there is ‘Songtales’.

'Songtales' is about breadth. It takes a long, loving look at hundreds of years of the essential, elusive craft of spinning songs and says 'these songs are jewels, lets try resetting them and see if they shine a little more. They do!
